We all know that fixed gear bikes are really popular right now…there are shows about fixed gear bikes, movies, documentaries to prove that…but why are they so popular? Why are people still jumping on the bandwagon? Well here are a list of reasons why.
1. Customization. People can do whatever they want with fixed gear bikes…there are so few parts to these bikes that customization is relatively simple! Look at the streets of New York City…they are jumpin with crazy colors and styles of fixed gears. Most people tend to customize the wheels and rims, the frames and handlebars.
2. The Subculture. As mainstream as people want to say fixed gear bikes have gone, it is still a subculture full of people that others find interesting. People always want to emulate what looks attractive to them, and to many people the idea of bike messengers, low maintenance and simplicity is an enticing idea.
