Find Stolen Bikes Found Using Twitter

Submitted by John on March 16, 2010 – 12:17 amNo Comment

The New York Times recently featured an article on cyclists in New York City using social networking sites such as Twitter and online bike forums to track down and reclaim stolen fixed gear bikes.  This bike messenger, Austin Horse, was making a delivery downtown and just fake locked his bike up so that it appeared locked as to save time.  The delivery took longer than expected and sure enough, someone snatched up his bike.  He immediately tweeted "BIKE STOLEN."  Through Twitter and a local fixie message board, the word was spread on his stolen bike and sure enough someone eventually spotted it.  Ahhh, the wonders of technology.  Check out the full article HERE.
