You probably do. Alright, it’s warm outside (at least where I am) and that means more riding, especially night time riding. Typically if you are riding more, you are doing more damage to your wheels, especially the rear wheel if you are riding brakeless like many fixed gear riders these days. Fixed Gear skidding definitely takes its toll on your wheels. You can always try to do those hop skids and try to wear down different areas of your tire instead of always skidding on the same place on your tire, but that isn’t going to extend the life of the wheel that much more. Nothing sucks more than to be out on a long, enjoyable ride only to have your rear wheel blow out five miles from home and then have it start raining on you (oh I have been there). Good thing you have friends you can depend on to come pick you up, or bring you a new tube.
