So what is the answer, which of these methods of holding your feet into the pedals is best? Well there is no answer. this is one of those things where it is all up to the rider…this is all personal preference, but I can tell you things that I have noticed and things my friends have said that have led me to prefer straps over clips. The main thing I have noticed with straps is that they are just way easier to deal with than clips…they are easier to fit into and they require way less maintenance…after all, the point of a fixed gear is its simplicity.
Some people go both clips and straps for that extra hold…especially in brakeless situations where you absolutely must have that stopping power…i dont know how much extra that is going to help though. One huge advantage straps have over clips is that straps will fit with a lot more shoes than clips will; you can pretty much wear any shoe you want with straps…even a damn boot. They are just so much easier to adjust and get into and out of. They are just more comfortable…thats it. check out some of these fixed gear pedal straps for sale through eBay below.
