It’s always a bummer when anyone gets into a bike accident, but according to the Calgary Herald, a fixed gear rider was involved in a fatal accident last week…which always super sad. As you would come to expect, this incident has brought up some issues on the overall safety of riding a fixed gear bike without brakes (the age old and most common debate amongst cyclists). I always maintain that everyone should ride within their own limits, if you aren’t comfortable without brakes then freakin put a brake on there just for safety!!! I mean, if your chain were ever to break, and you are charging down a hill…you are going to want to have that backup brake. Anyways, what do you guys think? Should laws be put in place to require all cyclists to ride with a brake? Let me hear your opinions…all over the world!
