Here we are, coming at you again with another segment from Mikes Bikes…Last time we featured one of Mike’s videos, he showed us how to adjust the chain tension on our bike…something that is so easy, but some people think is so hard…but is very important to properly riding our bikes. This time, Mike will show us how to install a front brake…I’ll let Mike take it from here…take it away Mike!!

What size brakes should we use?
For the origin 8 front brake, I see size 47-57mm and size 39-49mm. I just bought a Pista and i’m confused which ones I want.
thanks
how old is your frame and what size is it?
it’s a 2009 bianchi pista, 59cm.
these are the ones i’m thinking:

thanks
the 39-49mm is a shorter reach which is more common on the newer frames…so i would go with those.
thanks
what exactly are those measurements of anyway?
the reach range…length of the caliper’s arm
I see there are several size front brakes. Where do I measure from to get the correct size? Do I measure from the center of the pivot mounting hole to the rim? Thanks for any help!
