Top 5 Reasons to Ride a Fixed Gear.

Submitted by John on November 18, 2008 – 5:35 pmNo Comment

I found this Top 5 list for riding fixed gear bikes the other day from onmylist.com, I thought I would share.

1. Fixed gear bikes need less maintenance. Unlike new bikes on the road, a fixie doesn't have much moving parts so maintenance is a breeze.

2. You can stand in one place. When you stop at a light instead of having to put your foot down you can do a track stand where you balance on your bike with both feet on your pedal. Freaking awesome

3. You can ride backwards. Not much usefulness here, but oh so much fun.

4. Weighs less so is easy to carry. With less parts the bike weighs left making it ideal for lifting up and down your stairs.

5. Chicks dig it (heh). Girls love fixed gears. I don't know what it is about them. Maybe that they streamline, maybe that they are dangerous, or maybe because they take skill to ride.
