1.  It is simple.  This is a bicycle in its simplest form.  There is no worrying about gears or other unnecessary parts...a fixed gear bike is just plain simple.

2.  It is Strong.  Because a fixed gear is so simple, there is much less that can go wrong with it.  Because of it's simplicity, it is durable and much less exposed to the dangers and complications of other types of bicycles.

3.  It is Maintenance free.  Once again, going back to the simplicity of this contraption.  Fixed gear bikes require a lot less maintenance and work.  Most work you see people do on fixed gears is purely cosmetic.

4.  It is Peaceful.  Fixed gear bikes are much more peaceful and enjoyable to ride...there is something about it that makes you feel much more in tune with your surroundings and your bike.  Because you are constantly pedaling, you feel like you are a part of the bike...feeling every turn and new terrain.

It is officially freezing in my area of the country and my face is taking the brunt of this cold weather. In order to combat the frigid cold in your face, there are a number of things you can do; One of the easiest things to do is to tie a bandanna around your face. This will definitely take the edge off of the wind, especially if you do this along with a warm knit beanie. The most efficient answer to this dilemma is a ski mask. These stretchy and durable ski masks are perfect for cycling...they fit inside helmets, they cover you all the way down to your neck and you still have 100% visibility. Of course, we have all heard of camelbaks...i remember seeing people at school just walking to class with these things on...I thought it was totally corny...but if you are actually doing something physical I can understand wearing them.  They are lightweight and pretty unnoticeable when you are wearing one...and they actually keep the water inside pretty nice and cold.  I definitely wear one on days like today...its just way easier than reaching down for a water bottle...its actually much safer too.  You dont have to take your eyes off the road to reach down and find a bottle, the mouthpiece is right there waiting to be sipped on.  Im going to go fill mine up now and hit the road.  Check out some of these deals on Camelbaks through eBay below.

There are tons of differnt kinds of bicycle gloves out there, but what is the best kind for you?  First, we have full finger and fingerless gloves...that is the first decision you have to make in your quest to find the best glove.  If youre trying to keep warm, I'd recommend full finger gloves.  Another good tactic for warming your hands is to use leather gloves with insulation.  If you are trying to keep cool in the summer, I would recommend fingerless; vented or perforated gloves are also helpful on those hot summer days.  Many brands such as Pearl will sometimes incorporate graphite into the fibers which will allow the palm to get a sort of dry lubrication.  This helps to keep your hands soft and healthy.  There are tons of other factors when it comes to looking for the perfect bike glove...check  out all of the bicycle gloves we have in the store, and check out these latest deals on gloves on eBay.
