Check out these Cycling Shoes from Chrome...We mentioned the Cadence x DVS Milan CTC a few days ago, but these Chrome Kursk sneakers might be a little easier to get your hands on considering they are already out.  But anyways, this is a true cycling shoe...this is what Chrome has to say about their shoes:

"We wanted tough shoes we could wear every day – not just on our bikes. Here they are. Like our bags, we make them with the toughest and most industrial materials we could find and build them to last”.

That statement is true as hell, by the way...the sole is stiffened and feels like an SPD, but is much more comfortable than an SPD...these shoes flex enough to where you can comfortably walk and ride in them...this I like...It is a much more comfortable and durable alternative to Eras...those things wear out quickly.  The Denier Cordura material the Kursk is lined with really gives it the extra comfort feeling...much like memory foam.  The Denier Cordura is also weatherproof...can't say that about your Vans.  The Chrome Kursk is obviously a low profile sneaker, which makes it more conducive to fitting into a toe cage.  A few other features of this shoe include: Re-enforced nylon/glass fiber shank to support the midsole, skid resistant contact rubber on the sole, polyurethane contoured crash pad insole, and lace garage for keeping laces from getting caught up in the chain.  These are some truly sick cycling shoes...I like that they don't necessarily look like cycling shoes.  They look sorta like Chuck Taylors and that is pretty cool.  They will take some breaking in, but once you ride and walk in them a day or two, you will love it.  Check out some of these Chrome Kursk cycling shoes for sale through the following eBay Auctions below:

]]> http://www.buyafixie.com/06/chrome-kursk-cycling-shoes/feed/ 2 Cadence x DVS Milan CTC http://www.buyafixie.com/06/cadence-x-dvs-milan-ctc/ http://www.buyafixie.com/06/cadence-x-dvs-milan-ctc/#comments Wed, 16 Jun 2010 18:38:40 +0000 John http://www.buyafixie.com/?p=1961 dvs milan ctcDVS Shoes, which is more typically known as a skate shoe brand, is now extending their reach into the cycling game with the Milan CTC through a collaboration with Cadence...a pretty sick looking cycling shoe.  These shoes come in a couple different colorways but the black ones look real sick.  They seem like they would be a pretty good cycling shoe...I mean, that is what they are made for.  The Milan CTC has a reinforced heel pad under the insole so that should really help out with heel bruises and make the ride a bit more comfortable.  This sneaker also has reflectors all over it...pretty obvious why thats a good thing.  A couple other cool features about this shoe include leather and mesh paneling and a reinforced toebox...there is also a little flap that you can run the laces through so you won't have to worry about them getting caught in chain.  I haven't tried any of these out yet, but based on what I have heard, read and seen, these look like some pretty sick shoes...I have always liked DVS as a skate shoe company...might as well give them a shot in the cycling game.

This years new model of the PK Ripper differs a bit from last years version...although the 2009 Ripper was a great bike, the frame wasn't known very well for its durability.  This year, the 6061 alloy frame features welded reinforcements between the top tube and head tube...this will let you do BMX style moves on a fixie and be pretty rough with it.  It's pretty sick that a bike company is producing complete fixed gear bikes with the intent of it being used for trick purposes...definitely rad.  Check out these 2010 PK Ripper fixed gears for sale through the following eBay auctions below:

]]> http://www.buyafixie.com/06/se-bikes-2010-pk-ripper-fixed-gear-midnight-black/feed/ 0 New Bike Review: 2010 Raleigh Rush Hour http://www.buyafixie.com/05/new-bike-review-2010-raleigh-rush-hour/ http://www.buyafixie.com/05/new-bike-review-2010-raleigh-rush-hour/#comments Sat, 29 May 2010 18:09:17 +0000 John http://www.buyafixie.com/?p=1862 raleigh rush hourThat's right...we have just added a new fixed gear bike review.  For this installment, we have reviewed the 2010 Raleigh Rush Hour...this is one gooooood looking bike.  For starters, this bike features a rugged, simple and utilitarian single-speed drivetrain, a Reynolds 520 steel frame, and as you can clearly see, an awesome blue and grey color scheme...just look at the matching rims, grips, frame accents, saddle rails, seat-post clamp and headset; I am a sucker for a cleanly designed bike, and this one definitely fits the bill.  The Reynolds 520 frame is excellent in that it provides the legendary smooth ride of steel with track-inspired geometry and horizontal rear dropouts that features built-in tensioners.  This bike also comes stock with Sugino Messenger cranks with a 46-tooth chainring driving a 16-tooth freewheel...the rear hub is obviously a flip-flop which can be turned over and run with the 16-tooth fixed cog.

The 2010 Raleigh Rush Hour also comes stock with front and rear Tektro dual-pivot caliper brakes with inline levers that make for quick and responsive action that is very effective at slowing you down.  This fixed gear is also outfitted with Deep dish Weinmann DP18 rims with high-flange, sealed hubs and puncture-resistant Vittoria Zaffiro tires.  The pedals come with steel clips and leather straps for accepting street shoes.  As with any bicycle, after the initial break-in period, you will probably notice the bicycle performing less responsively than when you first got it, but that is simply because the cables have stretched and it's becoming worn in.  This, however, is a very responsive, fast and durable bike that should last you a long time...and at a price point of about $500, this is a fairly inexpensive bike and suits all types of riders...from newbies to seasoned veterans.  Check out some of the 2010 Raleigh Rush Hour Fixed Gear Bikes for sale below through the following eBay auctions.

This bike is a great value at a pretty great price.  Some of the other benefits of this bike include its ease of assembly...the thing comes with instructions, but if you're not really an instruction person, check out youtube videos on bicycle assembly...pretty easy stuff.  The Fisso is also extremely light weight, fast, smooth and handles very well.  This is another one of those bikes that is totally worth a lot more than it sells for...if you are in the  market for your first fixed gear bike, this might be a good call.  Check out some of our other fixed gear bike reviews.  Check out some of these Gavin 2010 Fisso fixed gear bikes for sale through the following eBay auctions below.

The frame of this bike is the exact female equivalent of the Giant Bowery 72...however, Giant did not include information on geometry on the Chixie web page.  They do provide geometry on the Bowery and according to road.cc the biggest difference between the Chixie and the Bowery is that the top tube is shorter.   The various components of this bike were definitely assembled with women in mind...the stem is shorter, and the riser bars are narrower than they would be on an equivalent male's bike.  The cranks on this bike are the same length which makes sense...most women have longer legs and shorter torsos than the same height man.

This bike is a 46T Sugino Messenger crankset with an 18T flip flop hub...so you can freewheel it if you want...the bike is also outfitted with front and rear brakes so you don't have to worry about learning to skid right away.  This is a pretty sick bike...ladies, leave a comment and let us know what you think about it!
